Custom Woodcraft and Ironwork

The custom ironwork uses a theme created to represent the view outside our windows of the Cascade Mountains. This theme is used in the fireplace screens, stair railings and deck railings. The great room stone fireplace screen incorporates a full moon in the design. The bookend dining room stone fireplace screen has a crescent moon. This allows us to bring the beautiful Cascade Mountains into our home.

To create our iron works of art we hired Milo Lowe, a well-known artisan in Oregon. Milo is a metal artist and craftsman. Starting as a teen in the 1980's and after finding he had a natural ability to easily work with metal and create works of art from it, he soon opened his own studio in Portland, OR. With love for the arts and a commitment to his craft, he consistently creates beautiful, one-of-a-kind custom works. Milo developed a unique and patented technique for which he is best known - Volcanic Stainless Steel Paintings.

We first met with Milo at our home. We described our vision for our custom ironwork. We wanted to incorporate the outstanding Cascade Mountain views into our home. The artist in Milo immediately understood what we wanted to accomplish. Together we designed all the custom ironwork that you will see in the house. Just another example of the attention to detail that went into designing this exquisite house.

The great room has custom, distressed ceiling beams, Brazilian Walnut floors and coffered ceilings in the formal dining room.
